Christos Community is a complement to your existing faith community, not a replacement for it. Many of our members also attend other churches and Christian communities and/or gatherings in Bali. We are here to go deeper with you alongside whatever you are already part of.

WHY DEPTH MATTERS

A faith that
keeps growing.

Going deeper into Christianity is one of the most significant investments a person of faith can make. Research from the Center for Bible Engagement, drawing on a study of 40,000 people across all age groups, found that serious and regular engagement with scripture is the single most reliable predictor of spiritual growth, more than any other spiritual practice measured. What makes the difference is not occasional exposure but consistent, intentional engagement, ideally in community with others who bring the same commitment.

Christos Community exists to be that context.

Every Sunday we create space for the kind of scripture engagement, theological formation, and contemplative practice that research and two thousand years of Christian wisdom consistently point to as the foundations of a maturing faith.

This is not a replacement for what you are already part of. It is an additional two hours each week, given to depth, that compounds over time into something that strengthens everything else in your faith life.

Christians with a grounded theological formation are better equipped to navigate doubt, articulate what they believe, and remain stable when their faith is challenged. Understanding the doctrines, history, and reasoning of the Christian tradition gives faith something solid to stand on.

The writings of the mystics, the spiritual disciplines of the saints, and the contemplative practices of the Christian tradition represent two thousand years of tested wisdom about the interior life. Knowing this treasury widens what you can draw from in your own prayer and formation tools, methods, and companionship for the journey inward.

Four elements.
Every single week.

Every Sunday gathering is built around four elements that are always present — prayer, reflection on scripture, religious literacy, and worship. Formation happens through faithful repetition over time. Each element receives genuine care and depth in every session we share together.

Prayer

Prayer runs through the gathering as its foundation. We open and close in prayer, pray with scripture, and pray for one another — building a culture of intercession and mutual care.

Scripture Reflection

We practice Lectio Divina and serious study together — reading the text slowly, sitting with it, allowing it to speak to our lives and to our moment with its full weight and beauty.

Religious Literacy

We explore the history, theology, and living wisdom of the Christian tradition — so that what we believe is something we genuinely understand, and can carry with us with confidence and with joy.

Singing and Worship

We worship together as an expression of everything the gathering has opened in us, offered back to God with gratitude.

Alongside the weekly Sunday gathering, the Christos Community marks the rhythms of the Christian year together through outings, prayer experiences, and shared life. These are among the most formative and most memorable things the community does together.

Liturgical Outings

Alongside our weekly gatherings, we mark the seasons and feasts of the Christian year with shared experiences that take us out into the world together. These may be contemplative, creative, or devotional in nature. What they share is a desire to make the Christian calendar something we live and inhabit, not only observe — and to create the kind of shared memories that hold a community together over time.

Contemplative Experiences

The Christian tradition holds an extraordinary treasury of contemplative practices that many believers have never had the opportunity to encounter. We create spaces for our community to experience some of these — practices of stillness, of sacred presence, of prayer in its deeper forms — drawing from the richness of the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. For many members these will be entirely new experiences. For others they will feel like a homecoming.

Prayer Journeys and Intercession

Prayer is at the heart of everything we do, and we explore it in its many forms together. Beyond our weekly gathering, we undertake shared prayer commitments — sustained seasons of intercession, devotional practices drawn from the Christian tradition, and prayer journeys that invite us to pray with our whole selves, not only with words. These are some of the most formative and most bonding experiences a community can share, and they deepen both individual faith and collective life.
