Where Beauty Blossoms carries themes that speak to the heart of every child's inner formation — the discovery of their own worth, the capacity to see beauty in themselves and the world around them, and the practice of stillness and presence through mindful coloring. These are conversations worth having again and again, at every age.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Swaady Martin

I wrote this book because I believe that one of the earliest and most important things we can give a child is a confident relationship with their own reflection — knowing their worth from the inside out, before the world has a chance to define it for them. Ubuhle's journey with the butterfly is the journey I wanted every child to take: inward, toward the beauty that was always already there.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

Karen Ahlschlager

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Karen Ahlschlager is a children's book illustrator based in South Africa and a PAL member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She illustrates across a diverse range of styles, from realistic to styled. In her own words about this book: Ubuhle's crown of flowers symbolises our capacity, as human beings, to create beauty around us as we walk upon the Earth — inner beauty made visible through positive thoughts, feelings, and emotions, falling like petals. This story resonates with her personally, having navigated periods of low self-esteem like so many children, and she brought that lived understanding into every illustration.
